Somehow i have fully forgotten to write here. Also i don’t mean literally a year of silence. Cause i couldn’t do that! (i mean theoretically yes i could but i don’t see a reason to). But no writing on this blog. And also being less on social media and posting less. And almost never posting stuff about kids, due to privacy reasons and also there’s way too many creeps out there. So what has happened last year? How would i know? Lol. Anyway, i went back through my photos to see. And somehow it rings true that the days are long and years are short.

My life consists of a lot of routines. Wake up, make coffee, get breakfast ready, help little people. And all the other things, do teeth and hair, get dressed, make dinners, do laundry and so forth. I think most parents know that. And then sprinkle in some little and big things. Be it getting new beds for kids, toilet training, losing teeth and getting adult teeth, going on roadtrips, street libraries, visiting people, making friends, shopping and so much more. It seems that life is boring, doesn’t it? But not really. Because if you think about all the little things, they make up our heart and soul. They way a little girl would hold your hand. The way they need your cuddles after falling over from a bike and needing mummy to patch them up. Or praying for you when you are sick. Or helping you with cooking and laundry, sharing kind words. There’s those little moments that stick somehow. But also how proud i am of them. How our 3 year old is very clever with puzzles. And how our 6 year old is such a great reader. Literally today went to library, again. Because she goes through sooooo many books. But we love it! And currently as i am writing this, there’s been so many hot summer days. Like 30C so we’ve been inside a lot. Because who wants to go outside in the burning Australian sun and be sweaty and hot and uncomfortable? Not us. Mostly.

In other news, i borrowed a sewing machine from my lovely mother-in-law and been learning to quilt. And sew a bit more. I started right after christmas with my first every quilt. And that queen size quilt took me about a month to make. Which seems fast, but considering i am home almost all the time, i guess i just worked on it a lot. And i am absolutely proud of myself that i did that. I made loads of mistakes. Seams that aren’t straight, pucking of fabric and so forht. But it’s alright. Still usable!

2024 things i found on photos:

  • Went fossicking with family.
  • Got P-plates
  • Tried CPAP machine
  • Made recycled paper after learning how to.
  • Cut my kids hair.
  • LOTS of knitting and crochet
  • Folded tiny origami stars
  • Was in a hospital with pneumonia
  • Took our first dog, which didn’t work out sadly.
  • Took our second dog and kept her.
  • Did drawing, writing, painting, reading, baking, cooking.
  • Figured out a bead system for kids chores, jobs, rewards and consequences.
  • Cried and laughed and prayed and sang and danced.
  • Had my first holiday in six years by myself.
  • Solved so many fights, tantrums, and arguments between two kids.

And so much more.

The year was with its ups and downs. With highs and lows like every other year. Without pictures, i probably wouldn’t remember much. But it doesn’t matter. What matters to me and my family is what we do day in and day out. How we raise our kids. Hopefully by being kind, loving, gentle, caring. By showing them Christian life, one prayer, one worship song, one Bible verse at a time. In the long run, that’s what will matter and shape their life the most. The little things will stick in their hearts and minds and hopefully will shape them into wonderful people. For that i am grateful. That i can slowly start to see the results of that hard work of parenting. And that’s all i got for now. Okay bye! See you next time!
